Your Town at work ...

Bob & Heath |

|
| Meet Heath Ray and
Bob Hammermiester, probably the Town’s hardest working team. These workers
pair up every day to haul away your household solid waste, dump the
commercial dumpsters, and empty the sidewalk refuse receptacles, a
tremendous workload.
Heath Ray has worked for the Town for over 14 years. Heath has hauled approximately 350 tons of Friday Harbor’s debris. Imagine all that solid waste in one place; 350 tons by 2,000 pounds equals 700,000 pounds of Friday Harbor waste. That translates to about 50,000 pounds a month of can packing. That’s not counting the 135 dumpsters that the truck lifts for him. Bob Hammermiester has been providing his skills to the Town for more than 2 years. A relatively new Town of Friday Harbor employee, Bob’s hard work and enthusiasm are an asset to the Town. The team’s day starts about 6:00 AM. Neither rain, sleet, or snow can stop this hard working crew from finishing the job. The Town owns a back-up garbage truck just in case of mechanical breakdown. This beats the old days when the garbage men collected the trash in the back of an old Ford pick up truck. Heath and Bob’s responsibilities also include maintenance of the refuse equipment. |
