Chair Balcomb-Bartok called the May 14, 2008 meeting of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) in the Town Council Chambers at 12:08 p.m.

Members Present: Kelley Balcomb-Bartok, Carrie Brooks, Lori Petersen, Jim Smith, Laura Saccio and Greg Zervas. David Pass was absent.

Minutes

Moved by Jim Smith, seconded by Carrie Brooks to adopt the minutes of April 19, 2008, as submitted. Motion passed 6-0 with Pass not present.

Review of Application

LTAC members continued to review the application packet. The LTAC members noted additional revisions to the informational packet and application, in particular the removal of all references to "construction". Discussion followed regarding the expenditure of the second 2% Lodging Tax for promotion only. Jim Smith added that it was appropriate for persons wanting Lodging Tax funding for the construction of tourism related facilities to approach the Town Council and make a request for a portion of the first 2% Lodging Tax monies.

Moved by Laura Saccio, seconded by Carrie Brooks to approve the 2009 Hotel Motel Excise Tax Grant Program Request for Proposals and Application Packet; and to forward said document to the Town Council for adoption. Motion passed 6-0 with Pass not present.

LTAC members reviewed the criteria on the draft LTAC Allocation Request Rating Form and assigned points/values to each of the questions therein. Members will use the same rating form to uniformly determine how much of the criteria each applicant’s proposal achieves. Discussion followed regarding how to apply said document.

Non-Agenda

Jim Smith requested that the LTAC discuss the determination of funding on June 11, 2008.

Chair Balcomb-Bartok adjourned the meeting at 1:07 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for June 11, 2008 at noon.
