The people of this state do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created. RCW 42.30.010 Sewer Replacement ProjectDear Townspeople: Construction of the Sewer Replacement Project is scheduled to begin September 15, 2008 in the downtown core and along the waterfront of Town. For the next two months, trenches will be dug and new sewer pipes and manholes will be installed. A complete set of construction drawings and specifications are available here at Town Hall for your review. We will do our best to minimize any utility interruptions and try to notify you in advance of any loss of service. As with any major utility replacement project the streets will be congested with equipment and materials, but access to your homes and businesses will be maintained. There will be times however, when you will be asked to wait while ditches are being filled or equipment moved. Debbie Pigman, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, will be acting as the business community’s liaison. Ongoing construction updates and schedule information relating to the Project will be disseminated at the weekly Chamber of Commerce meetings. I realize this project will be disruptive to your lives and I ask in advance for your cooperation. Please contact me or C. King Fitch, Town Administrator at (360) 378 – 2810 as problems arise and we will do our best to deal with each situation as it comes along. Sincerely, David F. Jones, Mayor of Friday Harbor
