GOAL STATEMENT AND OPERATING GUIDELINES
The Town of Friday Harbor’s Centennial is a year long community celebration
from August 2008 through Labor Day 2009 comprised of events, activities, and
exhibits that honor our past, celebrate our present, and imagine our future.
Centennial activities should provide the opportunity to instill a sense of
pride in local residents, the opportunity to increase regional awareness of this
community, and the opportunity to celebrate our quality of life.
To further this goal, the following guidelines have been developed:
-
Events should showcase Friday Harbor’s rich historical heritage, public
and private amenities, and social, business or cultural opportunities.
-
Events which include the active participation of those representing all
segments of the community (i.e., age groups, cultural backgrounds,
geographic locations; including citizens residing outside of the town
limits) are encouraged.
-
All official Town of Friday Harbor Centennial celebration events,
activities, and displays are sanctioned by the Town of Friday Harbor
Centennial Task Force and approved by the Mayor of Friday Harbor. All
activities should be organized and conducted in a manner that will project a
positive image for the community.
-
Once an activity is deemed official, the coordinators are granted
permission to use the official Town of Friday Harbor Centennial logo. The
Town of Friday Harbor Centennial logo is copyrighted artwork and may not be
used without permission. The Town of Friday Harbor Centennial Task Force
will keep a master list of all official events, activities, and displays.
-
Events should be reviewed in light of the purpose of Friday Harbor's
Centennial with thought to liability exposure, the ability to be financially
self-supporting, and appeal to a broad range of participants.
