Given the new roundabout on Spring St and the high amount of traffic from the intersection Spring St. I suggest that Nichols St. become a one way street from Argyle to A St.

Summer -time ice cream truck thats mostly owned by downtown businesses that don't allow mobile vendors, it must avoid downtown and ferry landing areas. The reason downtown businesses need to co-own it...

Summer -time ice cream truck thats mostly owned by downtown businesses that don't allow mobile vendors, it must avoid downtown and ferry landing areas. The reason downtown businesses need to co-own it is so there is no competition between downtown businesses that have invested in the costs of doing business downtown and a mobile company that has little expenses. The ice cream truck would only serve the residential areas, some distance from downtwon (maybe a mile?) because (most) 8 year olds can not go downtown on their own to buy ice-cream.

I have neighbors who have weekend/vacation homes here in my area that are traveling back-and-forth to these homes from the Seattle area; completely ignoring the "stay at home" directive from the Governor of Washington, the CDC, and the President of the United States. They should either stay here on the island, or stay at their home in Seattle/Shoreline area. Once they decide, then they should stay at home. If they elect to go back to Seattle/Shoreline, then they will not be permitted to come back to San Juan Island until such time as the "stary at home" directive is rescinded. I have asked the Governor to have State Patrol in Anacortes to enforce this, and we could use the Sheriff's Department here on the island to check all vehicles and/or walk-ons from the arriving ferries. If they do not have ID to prove that they live here as their permanent residence, they would be turned around to board the next ferry to Anacortes. We need to protect Islanders--children, adults, seniors.

Please pass an ordinance on view lots. It is very upsetting when you use your life saving to buy a view home here and your neighbor who lives on the water takes it away.

At first I thought harbor street had an unusual amount of speedsters coming through. There are many children on this street, mine included So of course I am A little concerned and probably a little biased. But then, I drove the posted speed limit of 25 mph and realized that most people probably aren’t speeding. The speed limit is just too high. Going the posted limit with children running around, especially during the summer months when they go back and forth to the new John o park A block away just sounds like disaster waiting to happen. I want to know if it would be possible to lower the speed limit and put in some speed bumps to slow traffic. There’s no sidewalks on this street, so it’s just children and vehicles mixing together. I couldn’t figure the “Report a Concern” so I’m posting here. Hopefully someone can help!

At first I thought harbor street had an unusual amount of speedsters coming through. There are many children on this street, mine included So of course I am A little concerned and probably a little biased. But then, I drove the posted speed limit of 25 mph and realized that most people probably aren’t speeding. The speed limit is just too high. Going the posted limit with children running around, especially during the summer months when they go back and forth to the new John o park A block away just sounds like disaster waiting to happen. I want to know if it would be possible to lower the speed limit and put in some speed bumps to slow traffic. There’s no sidewalks on this street, so it’s just children and vehicles mixing together. I couldn’t figure the “Report a Concern” so I’m posting here. Hopefully someone can help!

I would like to propose getting a Tesla supercharger somewhere in Friday Harbor. We just went on a long trip in our new electric vehicle, and whenever we stopped to charge up at a supercharger station, we invariably went into a nearby store and/or restaurant to use restrooms, walk dog, and eat—essentially spending lots of money at each spot. EV owners tend to be a great demographic to spend money in our community. In addition, Tesla will put in a supercharging station FREE on request! There are no other super chargers in the San Juan Islands. Let’s be the first ! The level 2 chargers are great, but slow—only good for those already staying in town. A supercharger station draws people in for an hour who might just pass on through.

I would like to propose getting a Tesla supercharger somewhere in Friday Harbor. We just went on a long trip in our new electric vehicle, and whenever we stopped to charge up at a supercharger station, we invariably went into a nearby store and/or restaurant to use restrooms, walk dog, and eat—essentially spending lots of money at each spot. EV owners tend to be a great demographic to spend money in our community. In addition, Tesla will put in a supercharging station FREE on request! There are no other super chargers in the San Juan Islands. Let’s be the first ! The level 2 chargers are great, but slow—only good for those already staying in town. A supercharger station draws people in for an hour who might just pass on through.

As the country slowly tests opening up to Post-Pandemic life, getting out of the house will be paramount to many. Friday Harbor is preeminently poised to offer safe, local travel, but it will take thoughtful and intentional planning. This is an opportunity for Friday Harbor to uniquely position itself at the forefront of accesible, clean, environmentally sustainable, CDC compatible tourism: Close Spring to cars and make it a business pathway/ Food Truck court, encourage people to travel with their own dishes, create more camping opportunities, make bike lanes finally, help small businesses create walk up windows, run "tour" busses to island sites that are stand only or run more busses at less capacity. There are ways we can do this with forethought and the wisdom of everyone's experience living in this unique system.
