Friday, July 14, 2023 - Traffic Control Plan
Work is authorized to continue on Friday, July 14, 2023, while the Contractor continues to grade that portion of Nash Street to its new width and remove debris.
Contact Town with questions regarding the Traffic Control Plan. Residents and pedestrians should expect restricted access during the project.
Local Access with no “thru traffic” will be maintained. This means that thru traffic for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists will be restricted during construction hours. Local access means that access will be granted to the residences along the project zone via flagger direction during working hours. No parking will be permitted on either side.
Construction Begins
The Town has contracted with Mike Carlson Enterprises for construction of the Nash Street Improvement Project. Notice to proceed has been issued and construction is scheduled to begin this Monday, July 10th.
This project includes the full reconstruction of approximately 500 linear feet of Nash Street from Spruce Street to Market Street, including cement treated base, paving, installation of stormdrains and water system improvements, curb and gutter, sidewalk with ADA-compliant ramps and driveway approaches, lighting system, surface restoration and other work.
The Contractor will begin with mobilization and establishing traffic control, followed by full construction later in the week. Local Access with “no thru traffic” will be maintained. Residents and pedestrians should expect restricted access during certain phases of the project. No parking will be permitted on either side of the street during work hours. Utility services should not be affected.
SAFTEY FIRST! Be aware of equipment, construction workers, trucks and construction materials. Make sure you are seen while moving within the job site and abide by flagger instructions!
During this period, the public is asked to be patient and exercise caution near work areas. Please slow down, pay attention and abide by the traffic control for your safety and the safety of others.
Residents should also expect reasonable noise during daytime working hours. Crews are scheduled to work Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Information and updates on the project will be posted online as needed. Questions for daily operations can be directed to the on-site Contractor or Project Inspector or by calling the Town of Friday Harbor Public Works at (360) 378-2154.
