Public Works Engineering Design Standards
The Town is updating the Street & Storm Drainage Standards and the Water System & Sewer System Extension Requirements. These documents will be incorporated into one document, the Public Works Engineering Design Standards ("Standards"). Creating one document with permitting requirements, variance requirements and development standards will facilitate the review and permitting process.
The objectives in updating the Standards are:
- Provide a user friendly document.
- Provide a clear administrative process for permitting and project closeout.
- Update design criteria and typical details to reflect current code, land use plans and Town preferences.
- Add design criteria and details for new topics (i.e., bike ways, low impact development and illuminations).
- Provide guidance on locally produced materials.
READ CAREFULLY: Sections of the new Engineering Design Standards will be added as they are adopted. Section 4, Sanitary Sewer, was adopted ahead of other sections and supersedes references to sewer specifications that may be contained in the Water & Sewer System Extension Requirements.
The complete document is anticipated in year 2021.
